Michigan Student Arrested After Pushing Influencer at Campus Event

A University of Michigan student was arrested after video showed her arguing with people at an on-campus event featuring a table with a sign asking, “Is Islam Compatible with the West?” The confrontation escalated after conservative influencer Lizzy Benichou questioned whether she could wear her outfit in Iran; the student pushed Benichou to the ground before a bystander and campus police intervened. Video also shows the student resisting as she was handcuffed. University police said they had been responding to an unpermitted event and that the student was taken into custody, processed and released pending warrant authorization. The student had denied an earlier allegation that she struck one of the men at the table.
