Michigan Voters Reach 6%, Wisconsin Mail Ballots Drop
Three weeks before Michigan’s Nov. 3, 2026, general election, more than 440,000 voters—about 6% of active registered voters—had returned ballots, while more than 2 million had requested absentee ballots, up over 20% from the same point in 2022. Michigan officials say returned ballots are slightly ahead of the 2022 pace and remind voters they can track ballots online, use early-voting sites or vote in person. In Wisconsin, by contrast, clerks had received about 128,000 absentee ballots, roughly 30% fewer than three weeks before the 2022 election; a county clerk attributed the decline in part to reduced confidence in postal delivery. Wisconsin officials said they were preparing for more in-person absentee voting.
