Micron offers Taiwan workers up to 68 months of pay after union pressure

Micron Technology announced a major fiscal 2026 compensation package for direct-labor employees in Taiwan, offering rewards equivalent to 35 to 68 months of pay and minimum cash compensation of about NT$1.7 million. Employees hired by August 29, 2025, will also receive a one-time NT$1 million cash bonus, while entry-level engineers are expected to receive substantial cash and equity awards. The package follows strike support from unions representing roughly two-thirds of Micron’s Taiwan workforce, which had demanded more transparent and competitive compensation compared with South Korean chipmakers. Micron is seeking to prevent labor disruptions at its Taiwan facilities, which are critical to production of high-bandwidth memory used in artificial-intelligence hardware.
