Kim Amontree won the Charlotte County Commission District 4 seat, defeating incumbent Republican Stephen R. Deutsch; she has emphasized fiscal restraint, infrastructure, clean waterways and limiting property-tax increases. In Charleston County, Democrat Charles Glover narrowly unseated council chairman Joe Boykin, while Democrat Jaxie Ferguson won the open District 9 seat previously held by Jenny Costa Honeycutt.
