Milan Malpensa Airport officially adopts Berlusconi name

Milan Malpensa, Italy’s second-busiest passenger airport, was officially renamed Milano-Malpensa Silvio Berlusconi at a ceremony attended by members of Berlusconi’s family and senior officials. The renaming, approved by Italy’s civil aviation authority in 2024, faced legal challenges from Milan’s left-wing municipal government and nearby towns, which argued the process was improper; a court ruling cleared the way for the dedication. Berlusconi, who died in 2023 at 86, was a media tycoon and longtime prime minister whose political legacy remains divisive. His daughter Marina welcomed the tribute, describing the airport as a bridge between Italy and the world.
