3.1 Million Medicare Advantage Enrollees to Lose Current Plans in 2027
Millions of Medicare beneficiaries face coverage changes for 2027: an estimated 3.1 million Medicare Advantage enrollees will lose their current plans, and 1.2 million people will have stand-alone Part D coverage canceled. People affected should review their insurer’s notice, verify available plans for their ZIP code and compare coverage, doctors, prescriptions and costs; choosing replacement coverage by Dec. 31 can help avoid a gap when canceled plans end. Medicare’s annual open enrollment runs through Dec. 7, and beneficiaries can compare plans at Medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE. Free one-on-one counseling is also available through local SHIP programs, including an upcoming session in Loogootee, Indiana.
