Minneapolis fires officer after she sent bulletin photo to brother

Minneapolis police officer Chanica Hall was fired after an internal investigation found she photographed a confidential bulletin about a shooting suspect and sent it to her brother, who was later confirmed as the suspect. The department said Hall did not alert investigators that she recognized the man and that her warning likely delayed the investigation and his arrest, which came about seven weeks later. Hall said the suspect only resembled her brother and that she believed the bulletin was public; she also said she intended to encourage him to turn himself in. The department cited five policy violations, including neglect of duty and sharing confidential information, and said her actions damaged public trust. Prosecutors declined to file criminal charges against Hall.
