Minnesota Regulator Approves $122M Power Bill Credits
Minnesota regulators approved two programs that will return about $122 million to Minnesota Power customers. About $72 million from sales of land around the utility’s hydroelectric reservoirs will provide average residential customers with roughly $55 off their bills in January and February 2027. Another $50 million, tied to commitments made during ALLETE’s acquisition by its new owners, will be distributed over five years: an estimated $15 credit in March 2027 and four more annual credits each January through 2031. The credits will be applied automatically, and the utility says the relief is intended to help manage rising household costs.
