Missouri, Federal Officials Launch Benefits Fraud Initiative
Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe, Attorney General Catherine Hanaway and federal prosecutors announced Operation Show-Me the Money, a state-federal partnership to identify, investigate and prosecute fraud involving taxpayer-funded benefit programs, including programs such as SNAP and Medicaid. The effort will combine agency resources and data, using referrals from existing investigations, targeted reviews of benefit programs and cross-agency analysis to spot suspicious patterns. Officials say the collaboration is intended to strengthen oversight and protect funds meant for eligible recipients; its findings could also prompt administrative or legislative changes.
