MLB Teams Assess 2026 Player Seasons

The 2026 Red Sox report cards show a team with strong pitching but persistent offensive shortcomings, as Boston again exited the playoffs at Yankee Stadium. Sonny Gray delivered an outstanding season despite Garrett Crochet’s injury, and rookie left-hander Payton Tolle emerged as a promising starter. The position-player grades were more mixed: Adley Rutschman offered excellent defense but limited offense after joining Boston, while Connor Wong improved only modestly. Washington’s grades highlighted Jacob Young’s value as a speedy, high-level defender, while veteran Miles Mikolas struggled badly and former top prospect Dylan Crews fell short of expectations.
