Muchova Clinches Final WTA Finals Spot

Karolína Muchová secured the final singles place at the 2026 WTA Finals without playing after Marta Kostyuk retired from her second-round match at the Ningbo Open with an injury. Kostyuk needed to reach the Ningbo final to keep her qualification hopes alive, while Iga Świątek—also in contention—had withdrawn from the tournament with a thigh injury and ended her season early. Muchová’s place rewards a strong season that included titles in Doha and Bad Homburg and a run to the Wimbledon final; she will make her long-awaited debut at the year-end championship. The eight-player event is scheduled for November 8–15 at Indian Wells, with Muchová joining Elena Rybakina, Aryna Sabalenka, Mirra Andreeva, Linda Nosková, Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula and Elina Svitolina.
