Myrtle Beach Man Sentenced to Life for Girlfriend’s Murder
Sheridan Fogle, 56, was convicted of murdering his girlfriend, Penni Whiteside, and sentenced to life in prison without parole. Authorities found Whiteside’s remains in a wooden chest buried beneath a fire pit in Myrtle Beach in 2024, more than two years after she disappeared. Fogle admitted strangling her but claimed he acted in self-defense; prosecutors argued he killed her intentionally and lied to police to conceal the crime. Whiteside’s son said he was glad the case had reached a conclusion and hoped to move forward.
