General Jackson Showboat Faces Retirement After Maintenance Challenges
Opry Entertainment Group is retiring Nashville’s General Jackson Showboat after more than 40 years on the Cumberland River, citing ongoing maintenance challenges that have disrupted its operating schedule. The company says sailings already listed on the public cruising calendar are expected to proceed, though reports give differing timelines for the final operations: one says December 15, while another says the end of 2026. Launched in 1985, the four-deck paddle-wheel vessel combined river cruises, dining and live entertainment and became a longstanding part of Nashville’s Opryland attractions.
