National Parks Plan Resident-Only Free Entry Oct. 27
The National Park Service will waive entrance fees on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026, to mark Theodore Roosevelt’s birthday, including at fee-charging sites such as Everglades, Biscayne, Dry Tortugas, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Zion and Colorado’s national parks. Beginning in 2026, the free admission is limited to U.S. citizens and residents; visitors from other countries must pay regular entrance fees and any applicable nonresident charges. The waiver covers entrance only, so costs for camping, tours, reservations and other services may still apply, and some parks may require advance bookings. The date honors Roosevelt’s conservation legacy: during his presidency, he doubled the number of national parks and established numerous other protected areas.
