Navitas and GlobalFoundries begin shipping first U.S.-made Gen 5 GaN chips

Navitas Semiconductor and GlobalFoundries will begin shipping the first U.S.-made Gen 5 GaNFast devices in September, signaling a milestone in establishing a domestic GaN supply for AI infrastructure and critical systems. The November 2025 strategic partnership enables production on GF’s 200 mm GaN-on-Si platform at Burlington, Vermont, integrating Navitas’ Gen 5 devices with GF’s manufacturing scale. Navitas’ Gen 5 GaNFast combines high-performance GaN power components with integrated drive, sensing and protection, underpinned by a portfolio of more than 300 patents to support a secure, U.S.-based supply chain. Separately, Navitas has disclosed plans to acquire Claros for $232.8 million to boost vertical power delivery and IVR technologies as part of its Navitas 2.0 growth strategy, even as the company pursues aggressive expansion amid ongoing losses and legal challenges. Taken together, the initiatives are aimed at serving AI data centers, high-performance computing, industrial electrification and national security applications through strengthened U.S. manufacturing and technology leadership.
