Nebraska Broadcaster Pavelka Plans Retirement After 50 Years
Nebraska men’s basketball broadcaster Kent Pavelka has announced he will retire after the 2026-27 season, ending a career that began in 1974 and made him a familiar voice for generations of Huskers fans. He said the decision was difficult but plans to savor his final season on the air. Pavelka has called Nebraska basketball for more than 50 years, with a 10-year break, and also broadcast Husker football; he was recently on the call for the program’s historic Sweet 16 run.
