Nebraska Eases Fuel-Hauling Limits Amid Shortages
Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen signed an executive order on Oct. 19 to ease fuel shortages reported around the state as a compressed harvest season drove up demand and fuel haulers traveled farther to find supplies. The order extends relief from hours-of-service limits for fuel truck drivers and allows vehicles to exceed weight limits by up to 10%, building on a federal waiver. It remains in effect through Nov. 18. State officials and industry representatives have pointed to the harvest and broader supply disruptions as contributing factors, while noting that the order is intended to improve access for farmers, businesses and households.
