Neon art exhibits open in Reno, Waterloo

The Light Circus Nevada Neon Museum opens at Reno’s National Bowling Stadium, displaying nearly 50 restored signs and art pieces from a collection of more than 200. The exhibits feature landmarks including the Mapes, Nevada Club and Harolds Club, as well as signs from Las Vegas businesses, and trace about eight decades of Nevada history. Executive Director Will Durham began preserving neon after rescuing a sign from the former Zephyr Motel; the museum aims to keep these reminders of vanished businesses and local memories accessible, with displays set to rotate as more signs are restored.
