Presley Gerber died at age 27 just one day after entering a rehabilitation facility in Santa Monica, California, as authorities continue investigating what happened. According to Fox News, Gerber, the only son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, reportedly entered Resolutions Living on Saturday night. He was found dead Sunday morning, according to records from the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. Santa Monica police responded to a report of a possible overdose at about 9:35 a.m. on Sept. 20 and found an adult male deceased. Police are investigating the death as a suspected overdose, but said there is no indication of foul play. The medical examiner has not determined Gerber’s official cause or manner of death. The department said an examination was performed and that additional testing or studies were requested, meaning a final determination could take months. Resolutions Living, located near Wilshire Boulevard, describes itself as a co-ed residential setting supporting people dealing with mental health issues, addiction and co-occurring disorders. It says its programs include intensive outpatient treatment tailored to residents’ needs. It remains unclear why Gerber entered the facility or what treatment he was receiving. Representatives for the center did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment, and authorities have not accused the facility of wrongdoing. Experts have cautioned against assuming that Gerber’s death was connected to the rehabilitation center simply because he died there. Attorney John J. Perlstein said that families dealing with addiction often provide extensive support to loved ones and that conclusions about potential liability should wait until investigators determine what happened. Nicholas Kardaris, Ph.D., who is not connected to Gerber or the investigation, also said there are multiple possible explanations for a sudden death in someone receiving treatment. He noted that acute medical problems, an undiagnosed condition, or medication-related complications can occur among people with complex medical histories. Kardaris also discussed the risks associated with withdrawal from certain substances, emphasizing that it can be medically dangerous in some circumstances. His comments were general, not an assessment of Gerber’s individual case. Gerber had previously spoken publicly about addiction and his treatment experiences. His family has asked for privacy following his death. The investigation remains open while authorities await additional medical examiner findings.
