New Mexico Adds 11,200 Jobs, Ranks Seventh
New Mexico added 11,200 jobs from September 2025 to September 2026, a 1.3% increase that ranked seventh nationally and exceeded the U.S. growth rate of 0.3%. The annual gains were led by health care and social assistance, construction and mining, while federal employment fell by 2,000 jobs and local governments added workers. Despite the year-over-year growth, seasonally adjusted payroll employment fell by about 800 jobs from August to September, and unemployment held at 4.7%, up from 4.2% a year earlier.
