Nexperia and Tata to produce chips at new Gujarat and Assam fabs

Nexperia and Tata Electronics announced a strategic partnership to manufacture and package Nexperia semiconductor products in India, combining wafer fabrication, assembly and testing, technology development, and ecosystem-building efforts. The companies plan to produce Nexperia’s MOSFET portfolio at Tata’s planned 300mm fab in Dholera, Gujarat, and assemble and test discrete chips at Tata’s facility in Jagiroad, Assam. The agreement is intended to expand India’s semiconductor capabilities, diversify production, and strengthen supply-chain resilience, with no financial terms disclosed. The partnership comes as India accelerates its semiconductor program, which officials say has attracted $11 billion to $12 billion in prospective investment, while Nexperia seeks to reduce vulnerabilities linked to its continuing separation from Chinese parent Wingtech.
