Niagara Falls Firm Pleads Guilty Over Sanitizer Waste
JEMF Buffalo Industrial LLC pleaded guilty to storing hazardous waste without a permit at its Niagara Falls property after 326 pallets of hand sanitizer were shipped there from Pennsylvania in 2022. The sanitizer later leaked, and an EPA search in December 2023 found expired product dumped outdoors in a large pile; testing determined it was ignitable and therefore hazardous under federal law. The charge carries a maximum fine of $50,000 for each day of violation. A former executive of the warehouse tenant also pleaded guilty to making a materially false statement to investigators.
