Nippon Steel Raises 2027 Profit Forecast to ¥720B

Nippon Steel raised its fiscal 2027 forecasts, now expecting ¥440 billion in net profit, ¥720 billion in business profit and ¥11.7 trillion in revenue, as overseas earnings help offset weakness in Japan. The company’s first-half results rebounded sharply, with net profit of ¥262.9 billion and business profit up 35% year over year to ¥307.4 billion. U.S. Steel is a major driver: Nippon Steel expects it to contribute at least ¥230 billion in underlying business profit, supported by stronger U.S. steel prices and operating synergies. A one-time Arkansas tax-credit benefit tied to U.S. Steel’s Big River 2 investment also boosted first-half earnings. Nippon Steel kept its annual dividend forecast unchanged at ¥24 per share.
