North Carolina Early Ballots Rise Nearly 48%
North Carolina’s early-voting turnout is running nearly 48% ahead of the comparable point in 2022, with more than 437,000 early and mail-in ballots reported and Wake County leading in ballots cast. A separate analysis says early-voting patterns may offer promising signs for Democrats in North Carolina and Georgia, while a Wake Forest political science professor says the economy, views of the president and broader national conditions typically shape midterms and that North Carolina is a key Senate battleground. Voters interviewed in the state cited economic pressures, health care, education, immigration, social rights, artificial intelligence and the wars abroad as reasons for voting. Polling also found widespread dissatisfaction with the government’s response to Hurricane Helene, especially in western North Carolina, while a majority of respondents said Iryna’s Law has made the state safer.
