North Korea Reports Successful Large-Scale Missile and Artillery Drill

North Korea said it conducted a large-scale joint firepower drill on Saturday involving long-range artillery and missile units from multiple army formations. State media said the exercise integrated attack drones, tactical cruise missiles, large-caliber thermobaric multiple rocket launchers and tactical ballistic missiles, claiming the weapons achieved 100 percent accuracy. South Korea reported that North Korea launched several ballistic missiles from near Wonsan toward the East Sea, or Sea of Japan. The drill followed five-day maritime exercises involving South Korea, the United States and Japan that focused on North Korea, suggesting the weapons display was intended partly as a response. North Korean officials said the training aimed to improve integrated, automated fire control and the coordinated use of multiple strike systems.
