Nvidia Adds Record $150B Buyback Authorization
Nvidia's board on Sept. 28, 2026, added $150 billion to its share buyback authorization, lifting remaining capacity to $235 billion from about $99 billion. The company called the increase the largest buyback authorization increase in U.S. corporate history and said it expects to execute the program through fiscal 2028, ending Jan. 30, 2028. Shares rose in premarket and morning trading after the announcement. The step followed Q2 revenue of $96.2 billion, up 106% year over year, Data Center revenue of $89 billion, up 117%, Q2 free cash flow of $21.34 billion, six-month free cash flow of $69.9 billion, GAAP net income of $59.69 billion, operating income of $63.73 billion, a 75% gross margin, and about $26 billion returned to shareholders that quarter via buybacks and dividends. CEO Jensen Huang said NVIDIA's growth is being driven by a once-in-a-generation platform shift to AI and accelerated computing, that cash generation gives capacity to invest in the technologies that advance this transformation and return capital to shareholders, and that the authorization reflects confidence in the long-term opportunity ahead. Q3 fiscal 2027 revenue guidance was about $108 billion, plus or minus 2%, excluding China Data Center compute revenue. Market capitalization was around $5.4 to $5.58 trillion.
