Omron Starts Blood Pressure Monitor Output at First India Factory

Omron Healthcare has opened its first Indian factory near Chennai, beginning local production of blood pressure monitors for the domestic market. The company aims to expand annual capacity to about 3 million units by 2028, with the potential to reach 3.5 million, and plans to use the facility to supply export markets including Europe. The investment diversifies production away from Vietnam, which Omron says has carried too much of its manufacturing, and supports India’s push to attract manufacturing and exports. Omron sees substantial room to grow in India, where it estimates more than 300 million people have hypertension and fewer than 5% of households use a home blood pressure monitor; it currently does not plan to lower prices as a result of local production.
