Brockman Says OpenAI Could Be Ready for 2027 IPO
OpenAI President Greg Brockman said the company could be ready for an initial public offering in 2027, while stressing that it would list only when the timing is right. He also said business customers now generate more than half of OpenAI’s revenue, reflecting a shift from its consumer-focused roots as it expands sales of products such as its Codex coding agent. Brockman described the first half of the year as difficult but said revenue surged in the third quarter, helped by new AI and enterprise offerings. OpenAI has previously submitted IPO-related documents confidentially and delayed its listing plans; its rival Anthropic is expected to go public sooner. Brockman’s remarks indicate a possible timetable, not a confirmed IPO date or commitment.
