Oracle proposes 35% emissions cut at Project Jupiter

Oracle says it will reduce Project Jupiter’s projected greenhouse gas emissions by about 35%, from 8.8 million to 5.7 million tons annually, through a proposed operating cap on its fuel-cell microgrid. The change follows technical questions from New Mexico regulators and public feedback, as the project’s air-quality permit remains pending; environmental advocates have sought to have the permit case dismissed over concerns about pollution disclosures. Oracle has also proposed paying El Paso Electric $10 million annually for 10 years and offering New Mexico residential and small-business customers up to $55 million a year in bill credits for as many as three years, potentially beginning in 2027. The company separately forecasts more than $13 billion in economic activity from construction and the campus’s first 17 years of operation, though those figures are projections and the utility arrangements remain proposals.
