Oregon Weighs Multiple Offensive Coordinator Candidates
Oregon is searching for an offensive coordinator after firing Drew Mehringer, with assistant Jay Johnson taking over play-calling and guiding a 34-26 win over Northwestern in which the Ducks gained 441 yards. Johnson’s interim performance—including strong production from quarterback Dylan Raiola and receiver Dakorien Moore—could strengthen his case for the job. Names discussed as potential candidates include recently fired Florida State coach Mike Norvell, whose fast-paced run-pass-option offense and prior connection to Oregon coach Dan Lanning could make him a fit, as well as Northwestern offensive coordinator Chip Kelly. North Texas coach Neal Brown has also been floated as a possibility, with his team’s high-powered offense and head-coaching experience cited as potential assets.
