Oregon Zoo Otters Dunk Mini Pumpkins

Oregon Zoo sea otters have been dunking miniature pumpkins through a hoop as a playful seasonal variation on their basketball enrichment routine. The activity uses positive-reinforcement training and novel objects to keep the animals mentally and physically engaged. The tradition began with Eddie, an older otter who learned to dunk as therapy for arthritis in his elbows.
