Panthers Place Scourton on IR with ACL Tear

The Carolina Panthers placed Nic Scourton on injured reserve with a torn ACL from a right knee injury on the first day of training camp, ending his season. Scourton was emotional as he was carted off, and the locker room rallied around him. As a rookie in 2025, Scourton tied for the team lead with five sacks across 17 games, signaling his role as a young edge defender. The Panthers added veteran outside linebacker Cam Gill, promoted offensive lineman Derrell Bailey, and waived guard Joshua Gray to bolster the defense and fill the void. Coach Dave Canales said Scourton would undergo MRI testing to confirm the injury’s extent. Coming off an 8-9 season and aiming to defend the NFC South, Carolina looks to Bryce Young to lead an improved offense and defense without Scourton.
