Parton's Christmas Carol set for 20-city tour
Dolly Parton’s “Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol” is touring nationally in 2026, with performances scheduled at the ETSU Martin Center in Johnson City on Nov. 13 and the UIS Performing Arts Center in Springfield on Dec. 21. The musical, featuring Parton’s songs, resets Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” in 1930s East Tennessee, where mining-town owner Ebenezer Scrooge is confronted by spirits and forced to reckon with his greed. The Springfield performance is part of a tour opening Nov. 14 in Princeton, West Virginia, and tickets there range from $39 to $129, with public sales beginning Oct. 9. The Springfield announcement describes the production as a celebration of Parton’s life and legacy; one report says she died Aug. 25 at age 80 after a cancer battle.
