Pedestrian Crashes Block Roads Across Florida, South Carolina

Three pedestrian crashes in Florida and South Carolina left people critically or seriously hurt and blocked roads and rail lines. In Conway, South Carolina, a pedestrian was critically injured Wednesday night at Highway 544 and Singleton Ridge Road. Lanes outside town were blocked while multiple agencies investigated. The wreck joins a recent string of pedestrian collisions on the busy corridor near Coastal Carolina University, including a fatal crash in August. In Ocala, Florida, a semi-truck seriously injured a pedestrian and closed westbound NW Blitchton Road during the probe. Thursday morning a separate train strike blocked several railroad crossings, and police told drivers to take other routes. Names, causes, and final outcomes were not reported.
