Pedestrian Critically Injured in Bakersfield Crosswalk Crash

A man suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle while crossing in a crosswalk at 24th and Oak streets in Bakersfield at about 11:43 p.m. on Oct. 21, 2026. Police said the vehicle was traveling east on 24th Street and the pedestrian was crossing southbound. Officers took the man to a hospital; the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said the intersection’s four-way traffic signals appeared to be functioning properly, and the collision remains under investigation.
