Pedestrian Deaths Reported Across California, Nevada
Several older pedestrians were killed or later died after traffic collisions in Nevada and California. In Las Vegas, an 88-year-old woman struck while crossing at East Pebble Road and South Maryland Parkway died weeks later; officials attributed her death to injuries from the crash. In Northern California, a 71-year-old man was fatally struck on Interstate 80 by a Tesla whose driver said Full Self-Driving mode was engaged; CHP’s preliminary video review showed the man entering the freeway and the car braking and steering to avoid him. Separate reports described pedestrian deaths in Fontana, Joshua Tree and Upland, but provided few details about how those crashes occurred.
