Pedestrians killed in Rochester, Colesville crashes

Two pedestrians were killed in separate vehicle crashes. In Rochester, 47-year-old Benjamin Hoyt died after being struck by a northbound vehicle while crossing Lake Avenue near Clay Avenue Tuesday night; police said he was outside a crosswalk, the driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating, and investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors. In Colesville, Maryland, a woman was fatally struck Wednesday morning on Randolph Road near Sherwood Forest Drive and Locksley Lane; the driver remained at the scene, and police closed Randolph Road in both directions during the investigation.
