Penn State loses three straight conference games

Penn State’s season has slid after a promising start, with Big Ten losses exposing problems in execution, rushing production and offensive consistency. The Nittany Lions showed more life on offense against USC but still lost 31-23, extending their losing streak; injured receiver Koby Howard is expected to remain out beyond the team’s bye. Coach Matt Campbell has pledged to find a path forward, and his long-term contract and substantial potential buyout make an immediate coaching change unlikely. Penn State now turns its attention to Michigan, whose coach, Kyle Whittingham, says the Wolverines will keep Bryce Underwood at quarterback and Jason Beck calling plays rather than make major offensive changes after their own poor performance. Michigan plans to focus on reducing turnovers and building on what has worked, while also changing its punt returner.
