Pennsylvania Awards $37M for 515 Philly-Area EV Ports
Pennsylvania is directing $37 million in federal grants to 71 companies and local governments to build about 515 EV charging ports across Philadelphia and four surrounding counties, expanding the region’s public charging network by roughly 27% and Philadelphia’s by 53%. Projects include curbside, apartment, shopping-center and fast-charging installations, intended to address gaps in access and reduce waits as more drivers switch to electric vehicles; construction could begin in 2027. Seattle plans up to 200 curbside Level 2 chargers for residents without driveways, with installations expected to start in late 2027 and finish by 2030. In Redmond, Puget Sound Energy has installed a dual public charger and a fleet charger for the fire department, as it works with local governments to broaden access for people unable to charge at home.
