Pennsylvania Confirms Sixth Measles-Associated Death
Pennsylvania health officials reported that an unvaccinated Jefferson County resident died after testing positive for measles, bringing the state’s confirmed measles-associated deaths to six and its 2026 case total to 1,467 across 45 counties; 283 people have been hospitalized. The department has not confirmed a reported death in Franklin County as measles-associated, saying its investigation has not established that the case meets the required criteria. In Nashville, health officials announced the city’s second measles case of the year, involving an unvaccinated person with a history of international travel, and warned that people who visited identified Middle Tennessee locations during specified times could have been exposed. Officials in both states urged people to get fully vaccinated with the two-dose MMR vaccine.
