Pennsylvania announces 10-year wildlife conservation plan with fall safety rules
Pennsylvania officials urged anglers and boaters to enjoy fall and winter recreation safely, reminding boaters that cold-weather life-jacket rules take effect November 1, while also announcing a new 10-year wildlife conservation plan. In Wyoming, mild late-October weather was expected to keep fishing active across reservoirs, rivers and ponds, although colder nights and developing ice were beginning to limit some waters. A Federal Register notice scheduled for publication October 28 concerns a transfer of New York’s Atlantic bluefish fishery quota. A study of permit in Florida’s Lower Keys found increased presence at a seasonal fishing-closure site during spawning season and around new and full moons, suggesting the closure may be helping protect the species. Dennis, Massachusetts, also outlined anticipated 2026–27 recreational shellfish openings and day limits, which may change with regulations or local conditions.
