Pennsylvania House Votes for Statewide Self-Driving Study
Pennsylvania lawmakers approved a resolution directing a state commission to study how self-driving cars could affect road safety, traffic, pedestrians, jobs and the economy, as Waymo tests vehicles in Philadelphia. In Illinois, a bill to establish a limited autonomous-vehicle testing program remains stalled but could return during the November veto session; its sponsor says more work is needed, and has also urged study of how AVs might fit with public transit. In Canada, Waymo plans to begin mapping and supervised testing in Toronto ahead of a targeted 2028 launch for autonomous ride-hailing, though regulatory requirements, winter weather and safety and accountability concerns could complicate adoption.
