Pennsylvania has made law a measure renaming Interstate 81’s Exit 119 in Schuylkill County the PSP Trooper Michael E. Pahira Jr. Memorial Interchange. Pahira died July 1 after a tractor-trailer struck him while he was conducting a commercial vehicle safety inspection on I-81; he was the 106th Pennsylvania state trooper to die in the line of duty. The legislation was introduced by state Sen. Dave Argall and Rep. Tim Twardzik to honor Pahira’s service and sacrifice.
