Pickering murder suspect leaves Canada; warrant issued

Durham Regional Police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for Kane Booth, 25, of Pickering, who is wanted for first-degree murder in the death of 47-year-old Joshua Ibbitson. Ibbitson, of Newmarket, was found dead in a vehicle in Pickering on April 30, 2025, and a post-mortem examination determined his death was a homicide. Police say Booth left Canada shortly after the killing, but his current whereabouts are unknown; investigators say the two men knew each other. Police are asking anyone with information about the homicide or Booth’s location to contact investigators or Crime Stoppers.
