Pickleball Courts Open, Upgrade Across Four States
Communities across the country are investing in pickleball facilities, with projects ranging from new courts to lighting and maintenance. In Florida, Franz Ross Park’s courts will close from Nov. 16 through an expected Dec. 1 completion for resurfacing, while Wabasha, Minnesota, has installed upgraded lights at its athletic complex courts with support from WNB Financial and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines. Manteno, Illinois, approved lighting six courts at Lucille Thies Park, with a local contractor’s lower-cost offer and pickleball club contributions reducing the village’s expected expense. Ronceverte, West Virginia, opened six courts on a remediated former industrial property, funded in part by a federal cleanup grant and local foundations. In Dallas, Serve & Sip has opened a six-court indoor pickleball and social club, reflecting the sport’s rapid growth and demand for beginner instruction.
