Pinsley Leads Early in Pennsylvania Senate Control Race
Democrat Mark Pinsley held an early lead over Republican incumbent Jarrett Coleman in their rematch for Pennsylvania’s 16th Senate District, a closely watched contest that could affect control of the state Senate. Coleman defeated Pinsley in 2022, and Republicans entered the election with a 27–23 chamber majority. Coleman, an airline pilot, emphasized opposition to tax increases and backed regulating skill-game machines; companies in that industry contributed substantially to his campaign. Pinsley, an Army veteran and Lehigh County controller, received more than $1.5 million, much of it from Democratic campaign organizations and allies, and cast himself as a champion for working people. The articles describe the race as competitive, but the early lead reported does not establish a final outcome.
