Orlando Pirates Open Cup Defense Against Newly Promoted Milford

Orlando Pirates begin their defense of the Carling Knockout title against Milford FC in a round-of-16 match in Soweto on Tuesday, with the winner advancing and the loser eliminated. Pirates arrive after securing a place in the CAF Champions League group stage and must quickly refocus on domestic competition. Milford, a newly promoted side with a promising league start, will look to upset the defending champions; the teams have already met this season, when Pirates won 2-0. The fixture also opens a demanding stretch for Pirates, who face Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto Derby later in the week.
