Pitt County Records $1.4B Deed of Trust
Recent guidance and proposed reforms address different issues in trust planning and dispute resolution. A Massachusetts law firm says revocable trusts preserve the creator’s control but generally do not shield assets from creditors, MassHealth rules or estate tax, while irrevocable trusts trade flexibility for greater protection; some plans use both. An Iowa law firm cautions that revocable trusts work only when assets are properly transferred into them and may not avoid probate for smaller estates, whose probate costs can be limited under state law; such trusts also generally leave assets exposed to creditors. Separately, Guernsey’s approved trust-law reform proposals aim to broaden dispute-resolution options, including alternative dispute resolution, while enhancing flexibility and privacy without replacing the Royal Court’s supervisory role.
