Pittsfield Man Gets Five Years for Assaulting Minors
Chase Wood, 21, was convicted by a jury of assault-related charges after prosecutors said he gave alcohol to three juvenile girls at a Pittsfield park in summer 2025 and then attempted to assault them. Two girls escaped his advances; prosecutors said he took the third to a secluded area and dragged her into the woods when she resisted, but all three ultimately got away. A judge sentenced Wood to a total of five years in a House of Correction, followed by three years of probation—less than the seven to nine years in state prison prosecutors had requested. The convictions included indecent assault and battery, assault and battery, assault with intent to rape, and furnishing alcohol to minors.
