Indiana University police add patrols for homecoming and Halloween crowds

Indiana University expects large crowds for its Oct. 30–Nov. 1 Homecoming and Halloween weekend, including a Friday parade and Saturday football game against Minnesota, with ESPN’s College GameDay also broadcasting from campus. IU, Bloomington and state police will coordinate extra patrols and traffic enforcement, with local officers managing parade traffic and state troopers focusing on impaired, speeding and distracted driving. Public safety officials urge visitors to plan transportation, designate a sober driver, stay with their groups and use well-lit routes; drivers should also watch for trick-or-treaters on Halloween evening. Campus emergency alerts are available by texting SafeIU to 77295 during the weekend.
